Episode Transcript

Hey everyone, it's Karissa from Shining Light on Minnesota. So I'm here with our producer John. Welcome John. Thank you for So we wanted to let everybody know today is John's last official day with Shining Light on Minnesota and we wanted to say thank you for everything you've done. Thank you. 52 or 50 plus episodes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was thinking about that last night. I mean we we've done an episode a week since I mean or more. Yeah. Right. Or more. There's been a few weeks where we've done multiples. So, um, yeah, that's, you know, it's a good amount of of content. It's a lot of people. It's a lot of guests. So, you know, shout out to you for all the work you've done. That's a lot of It's a lot of work. Um, it's a lot of grind conversations. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. So, um, yeah, there we we did a lot. We accomplished a lot. let people know a little bit about what all it takes to do the behind the scenes because a lot of times people don't know that's a lot of a lot of editing, a lot of content, a lot of publishing, a lot of everything, right? So, you know, I mean, I think the first thing it's it starts with uh hospitality, which I think is something you do really well. Kissa, whenever we have a guest come in, she gives them a tour of the whole facilities either before or after, but even on the way down here to the studio. um she's giving that you know like making them feel at home making them feel welcome you know and I think that's the the like one of the biggest most important aspects of the of the podcast you know and of what we do right and so like when when I when they get into the studio then um you know for me to make an introduction and also bring that warmth of welcome and then from there just you know get audio set up make sure the audio looks good you know I have them do a little test conversation. Mic check. Yep. Mic check. And then, you know, it's just running running the camera, running the uh audio from my my spots over here. Yes. And so, yeah, he has a full desk setup, by the way. Yeah. Yeah. And then, you know, just with like, you know, everyone has their different like operation, but we with where we're at right now in terms of the podcast setup, it it involves uploading to the cloud and then, you know, we add it on Premiere Pro. So, um, you know, uploading all the files and then, you know, the fi this is a podcast, right? So, the files are huge and um I feel like that's that's a big part of the podcast too is just patience patience. Yeah, exactly. You did that for restructuring some of those channels. So, anyways, yeah, it's been a joy and yeah, it's been great. So, we've done some on people's sites, too. What have been some of those fun ones? I mean, we've had some barbecues. We've done some Pilates together. We've done some crazy things. Yeah, absolutely. Um, yeah, I'm I'm just I love food so much, so I think that one took the took the cake. Um, and I think we've always made it kind of one of the things asking people what their favorite food is, too. That's kind of question. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. No, and those have been some of my favorite answers like from from respondents is like a lot of grilled cheese. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Yeah, the grilled cheese. So, what's your favorite food? M Did we talk about this on my guest today? I don't even know if we did. I don't think we did. I think we asked we asked uh um the chef what his favorite one was. That's right. That's right. Um man, for me, I'd have to say I'd have to say anything from Italy. Uh not not anything. I take that back. They can throw some things at you. Yeah, they can. Exactly. just like some crazy stuff together, right? Yeah. I also have like a trina allergy, so I can't eat everything over there, right? But like any authentic Italian pasta. Oh my word. Yeah. That or steak, you know, just the classics, you know. I Yeah. It's just so fun to try everything. But switch up. What's your favorite thing to eat your food? Like your favorite thing to eat your food on? I would say my favorite thing to eat food on would probably be on the golf course. Nice. Oh, cuz you're looking at the golf. I didn't I didn't see that coming. You found a way to get us all back in it. I did, of course. Right. How not? No, that's amazing. Yes. So, yeah. Mine Mine was kind of a leading question because we for Christmas um I I've always appreciated eating on china. Yes. And I think it's something, you know, it's like you have your grandmother's china set and it's like okay it just collects dust and I'm like that's silly, you know? It's like so beautiful and then also it just makes your food look that much more it does authentic and real. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. So, for Christmas, we got a a China set um that's called Finlandia, and it's a British China set. It's white with the It's white and blue. It's one of those with the blue um artistry like little design on it. Yeah. I used to have bubble dishes in my grandma's. Yeah. Oh, really? I still do. Yeah. And so, I just I love it. It just like especially, you know, like taking a little like phone photo of your food. It's just like it elevates it. So, here's here's our chef creation. And then it's on this plate, too. Yes. Exactly. So yeah, so we've done a lot of videos. We've done a lot of podcasts. I can't say thank you enough for everything you've done. Yeah, of course. We've done so much. But let's talk about who's sitting next to us. Who's Sunny? He's going to miss you. We've had some journeys with Sunny. We rolled him out on here. Yes. Yeah. It's been a lot of fun. Yeah. So good. He's had some fun journeys with us, too. So Yes. Yeah. Well, and to get into the nittygritty of that, you know, we we were in discussion about um you know, what what is something more like you know, marketing and business development could do? How can we make an an impression impact on people? You know, and you know, just looking at the numbers, right? You think of like your TV commercials, you think of anything, right? It's like um you know there like whether it's insurance with the AFLAC duck or the kind of on the same thing when we were both thinking about it, too. Yeah. Exactly. Right. And if you look at our Sun Control brand, you you'd see that um Sunny was already there. He's always been here. Um but we were like, we need to take this to the next level and really bring Sunny to life. Yes. Um and so yeah, there's just a huge runway now for Sunny and his growth. Yep. And he'll be everywhere. Yeah. He or she or whomever it may be. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, we by the end here, we'll have like a whole character like, you know, like the You never know who's going to be in Sunny or what? Yeah. the tunes, you know, we'll have all these different characters built out from it. So, it's going to be at an expose. He's going to be There's Pac-Man. There's Miss Pac-Man. Exactly. Sun's going to be everywhere. Exactly. So, we have a lot that we've done. We've accomplished a lot. You've done a lot in marketing. You've done a lot in business development. You've done a lot in your flyers. You've done a lot for some Control. So, we just wanted to say thank you, have you on We'll do one last harrah for shining light. So, that's that's what we wanted to do. So, keep shining light, John, and everything you do and let us know if there's anything you need. Of course. All right, one last question. What's your favorite quote? My favorite quote? Yes. I should have prepared for this better cuz I should have seen it coming. Um, my favorite quote um that I'll leave with leave you with is from my uh alma moater university president You can either live in you have two options in life. You can either live from a place of gratitude or ingratitude. What are you going to choose? You get you get the option. So I'm I'm trying to choose gratitude. Yeah. Thanks everyone. Sounds a lot like mine you have. Or mine or not thinking of mine. Um Oh boy. No, I can't remember it. Um, it's a quote bug. It just is. Oh, lord. Now, like someone puts you on the spot. Um, either you think you can or you can't. Yeah, you're right. Yep. So, there you go. Keep shining light, everybody. Sound off. Thanks, John.
